Energy-Efficient LED Upgrades for Power Facilities

If you’re looking to upgrade your facilities from incandescent lighting, CFL (compact fluorescent lighting), halogen lighting, or even older LED systems, there’s never a bad time. LED lights are about 50% more efficient than they were in 2012.  Today, LED lights provide around 100 lumens per watt, outdoing older LED technology.  By 2020, it’s expected that LEDs will get to around 150 lumens per watt and to 200 lumens by 2025.

LED is far more efficient than most common lighting options.  Incandescent bulbs only produce around 15 lumens per watt, making LEDs over six times as efficient.  Even CFL bulbs, thought to be the most efficient solution only a few years ago, clock in at just over 60 lumens per watt.  That makes LED lights around 1.5 times as efficient.

Not only that, but LED bulbs are only expected to only grow more efficient in the future.  Retrofitting an older facility today means that you have LED fixtures in place, preparing you for future upgrades in LED technology.  The Department of Energy anticipates that most lighting will be LED by 2030.
